| Hyundai invests in product enhancements to gain marketshare
YOUNG CHANG NORTH America is entering the new decade with a redesigned product line and new manufacturing processes. Under the guidance of prominent American piano designer Delwin D. Fandrich, the company has revamped its entire piano line while instituting processes to improve both the quality of its production and the sound of its pianos.
An influx of capital from parent company Hyundai Development Corporation has enabled Young Chang to form an enhanced research and development team and facility, positioning the company to build piano parts for other major manufactures around the world. Under the leadership of Young Chang Korea CEO B.J. Park, the company has stated a commitment to building its brand in both established and developing markets worldwide.
Young Chang’s new product lineup, slated to be showcased at winter NAMM, will include a completely redesigned vertical line of pianos between 42" and 47"; entry-level grand pianos; Kurzweil X-PRO vertical, mini grand, and grand piano ensembles; and the Kurzweil “Slim Piano.” The Young Chang/Weber vertical piano models 112 and 114 have entirely new string scales and soundboard designs that include new tenor and bass bridges, longer back scales through the bass, and other new features that enhance the bass, creating a smoother transition across the break and a better tone balance throughout the scale. Young Chang pianos and Weber pianos now have different string scales, giving each product line its own unique tone quality.
Young Chang Korea will also introduce a newly designed Y-131 (52" vertical piano) by Young Chang and Weber along with completely redesigned Y-150/157 grand pianos. Manufacturing and design changes have been made in the new models to improve tuning stability. “The redesigned Weber pianos will feature a much warmer sound coupled with a more dynamic tonal response to yield a much stronger and more powerful sound,” said Vincent Choi, president of Young Chang North America. “The redesigned Young Chang pianos will feature a brighter, stronger tone.”
